Achieve beautiful and durable gold plating

Electroplating baths are sensitive to contamination, so it’s essential to keep them clean and avoid exposure to soap, chemicals, or hard water. We recommend placing your electroplating system in a clean, dust-free area, preferably near running water.

The electroplating process begins with thorough cleaning of your items, for example, using an ultrasonic cleaner. Next, items must be degreased in a cleaning bath to remove fingerprints, grease, and other invisible dirt. It’s crucial to rinse the items thoroughly after degreasing to prevent damage to the plating baths. Use clean, distilled water for rinsing and possibly a neutralizing salt.

Once your items are completely clean, they can be placed in the plating bath, where the time and current strength will vary depending on the type of bath. After a certain time in the bath, remove the items and rinse them with clean water—ideally distilled, lime-free water. Finally, dry the items to complete the electroplating process.

For instance, you can effortlessly apply rhodium to your gold jewelry. By immersing your gold jewelry in a rhodium bath and using a low current, you can apply rhodium to the gold. Similarly, other materials, such as gold plating and silver plating, can be applied using the same technique.
